It's always difficult to live up to expectations when you're the favourites. As the top seeds in the Grenoble P1000 tournament, Jérémy Robert and Thomas Basso had to fight hard to win their first three matches, each time needing three sets to advance in the draw:
- R16: 61/ 5/7 6/3 against Antoine Venancio and Merwan Sekhri
- Quarter: 6/3 1/6 6/3 contre François Authier and Justin Lopes
- Semi-final: 5/7 7/6(4) 6/2 contre Antoine Du Gardin and Cyril Roulleau
It wasn't until the final that they secured a two-set victory (6-3, 7-5) against Norman Sanchez and Lucas Potel, who could have taken Jérémy and Thomas to a third set. Lucas and Norman had the opportunity to level the match at one set all, leading 5-1 and serving for the second set twice. Just when it looked like the second set was in the bag, Jérémy and Thomas found the resources to come back point by point, game by game, saving several set points to win the second set and secure their second victory together in P1000.
