P1500 Central Sport Club in Saint-Jean-de-Luc

P1500 Central Sport Club Jérémy Robert Jérémy Garcia

Converted try, as they say in the south-west. It was indeed a great success for this first partnership in a padel tournament. The unusual pairing of Jérémy Garcia and Jérémy Robert, seeded No. 4 in the tournament, succeeded in winning a P1500 without ever having played together before.

They got off to a slow start, winning their first match after a hard-fought three sets against a mixed pair consisting of Spanish player Roger Arumi, ranked 10th, and Matthieu Escale, ranked 89th. Winning 7-6 in the third set, they came close to elimination. This first match allowed the two players to get to know each other and find their feet in relation to each other.

In the semi-finals, against Damien Bayard and Morgane Mannarino, the local player, solid pair who had knocked out the number 1 seeds the day before, the two Jérémys had to put in a strong performance. They qualified for the final in three sets.

It was time for the youngsters to take centre stage in the final: Thomas Basso, 17, Olivier Guy de Chamisso, 16 and a half, and Jérémy Robert, who will turn 17 in a few days. Worn down by a series of long and difficult matches, Thomas and Olivier, despite their fighting spirit, had to concede defeat to the Jérémys, who were playing better and better together.
